PolyActiva, RareSight to Collaborate on Rare Pediatric Retinal Diseases
Author: Jennie Crabbe
Australia’s PolyActiva announced Nov. 5 that it would collaborate with RareSight, of Menlo Park, California, an ophthalmology-focused life sciences company committed to advancing therapies for rare pediatric retinal diseases.
The collaboration will leverage PolyActiva’s Prezia sustained-release intravitreal drug technology. The approach will require no patient administration—a key benefit for children and their caregivers, the companies said—and will target vision loss at its earliest onset in inherited retinal diseases that have no approved treatment.
PolyActiva was already developing PA5108, a biodegradable implant designed to deliver latanoprost to reduce intraocular pressure in patients with ocular hypertension and glaucoma. The candidate is currently in a Phase IIa clinical trial.
